A-i-R Barents is an exchange program for professionals who work in the field of visual arts in North-Norway and Northwestern Russia. Applicants from North-Norway (Nordland, Troms and Finnmark) can apply for 2-4 weeks long research or production residencies in the cities of North-Western Russia.

Karelian Art-residence is one of the project partners and invites creators for work in fields:

Karelian art residence (AiR Karelia) is a uniquely place in Petrozavodsk (Russia, Republic of Karelia) for creative people with all the conditions for work.

Working space

Media workshop on the premises of Media center Vyhod. The workshop is equipped with professional cameras, sound equipment, audio mixing console, special lighting, PC.

Graphic arts workshop, equipped with an etching press; opportunity to take part in the master-class by professional graphic artists.

Craft workshops equipped with the muffle furnace, potter´s wheel , looms, sewing machines..

Housing

An apartment in a residential apartment house (the first floor). The premise has a living room, a kitchen equipped with all necessary appliances and utensils, a bathroom. Also at your disposal there is access to archives, museums, libraries, administrative and technical support, rich history, traditions, a cultural heritage of Karelia and the nature, beautiful at any time of the year.

Artists of all ages working in all forms of artistic expression can apply. Applicants should be reasonably fluent in English (spoken and written). Two artists can apply to participate in the program together. The program is not available for students with the exception of final year students. Deadline for applications is January 10, 2015.

Residency conditions:

Residency grant: NOK 10 000 2-weeks residencies, NOK 20 000 4-weeks residencies

Travel support: up to NOK 9000

Residency periods: 2 weeks -1 month between March-December 2015
